Are there any easy techniques to drawing/ sketching life-like hair?
Im doing on project on hair for GCSE and i can piant hair fairly well but its plain drawings and sketches that never look as good, so any tips would be really great
Thanks

If we’re talking strictly graphite or charcoal, I’d really encourage you to use your eraser as a tool, and not just a means of correction. When I am drawing something with a lot of texture, or a lot of different areas where I’d like to portray highlights (such as hair), I tend to suggest the values first with my pencil, and then go back in and take away certain areas with my eraser. A kneeded eraser is a good option because you can make it all different sizes, to block out larger or smaller areas of light. I would also suggest that you keep your drawing utensil very sharp, to get the smallest lines possible.
Pen and ink is also a very nice medium to draw hair with. With different sized pens, you can get different thicknesses in your lines, which can make things look very bold and somehow real.
Good luck!
